What do you need?
To get started you need:
- A Credit or Debit card: Visa, Visa Electron, Visa Delta, Mastercard, Switch, Solo, Maestro and American Express cards are accepted. This is to pay for any outbound calls you wish to make and to verify your account.
- Ideally: A broadband connection to the internet - such as ADSL, VirginMedia® Cable Broadband or even ISDN. With a typical ADSL line with 256k upstream, you can usually run 3 to 4 concurrent calls. However, you can use VoIP over a dialup modem link, but the call quality may suffer.
- Either:
- A FREE "Softphone" (such as the X Lite Softphone)
- Or an Existing analogue or DECT telephone handset which requires an adaptor
- Or SIP-enabled "hard phones" which are dedicated VoIP telephones that plug directly into the internet
- Ideally: A headset or a VoIP phone - however, speakers and microphone on your Windows PC, Apple Mac or Linux machine will be sufficient.
