VoIP: How do I transfer a phone call?

Call Transfer is fully supported for our Centrex Customers.

It may work for single line customers, but it is not supported.

The following scenarios are known to work:

Sipura Adaptors

  • Transfer of an internal call to another internal or external phone.
  • When an inbound external call has been routed through a huntgroup, an unattended transfer may be completed using a Sipura and a *98 code (see below).
  • When an inbound external call has been routed through a huntgroup, an attended transfer to an internal extension may be completed using a Sipura and a *99 code (see below) if the sipura is using the latest firmware.

For example,.
When you have received a phone call on a Sipura adaptor, place the caller on hold by performing a "hook flash" - pressing the receiver button quickly. You will then get a dialing tone.
Dial either *98 or *99 to get a second dialing tone.
Then, dial the extension you wish to transfer the call to. e.g. To transfer a call to extension 2001234.
For an unattended transfer, hangup.
For an attended transfer, stay on the line to introduce the caller, and then hang up to connect the 3rd party.

Callers on hold can be retrieved by performing another "hook flash".

Another way of performing an unattended transfer is to press # on your phone, this should also put the caller on hold, you will get a recorded message asking you for the extension number to transfer to.

SNOM Phone

Use the keypad buttons to place the caller on hold. Then, dial the new extension.
You can enter into a 3 way call by pressing the "conf on" button on your key pad. To complete the transfer, press the "XFER" button.

Attended Transfer.
To initiate an attended tranfer, press the "xfer" button while in a converstation. You can access the "xfer" by pressing the ">" button during a call. After pressing the ">", the menu will display "xfer" above the top right sft key button. Once you press this button the 1st call will be placed on hold and the phone will provide a new dial tone. Call the 2nd party's telephone number and when the 2nd party answers you can have a converstation with them without the 1st party being able to listen. To complete the transfer press the "xfer" button again and the call will be transferred. Note that if you hang up before pressing the "xfer"
 button then the current call to the 2nd party will be cancelled and you will not have transferred the call.

Unattended Transfer.
To initate a blind transfer you need to follow the same procedure as above except that you dial the 2nd party and whilst the phone is ringing press the "xfer" button. Please note that if you hang up before the 2nd party is ringing then the transfer will fail and you will disconnect the 1st party also.
