Note: to use a VoIP phone on the Centrex service, you must have a router connected to your ADSL line. A USB modem will not work!

(Only necessary if you do not use DHCP on your network.)
Tip: Once you’ve saved the IP address, you can use the web interface (Basic Settings tab) to enter the other network settings. See step 2 below.
(Only necessary for phones not purchased from FreeVirtualNumbers. Requires a PC on the same LAN/subnet as the phone!)
SIP Server (the SIP server name); Outbound Proxy (the SIP proxy server); SIP User ID and Authenticate ID (your first Centrex extension number); Authenticate Password (your account password set in the Extensions control panel).
Tip: if you get a “page not found” error instead of the reboot prompt, you will need to start over, as the phone has probably picked up a new IP address in the mean time.
The main controls mentioned in this quick-start guide are shown below:

Note: this guide describes how to use the phone with Line 1 set up for the default Centrex extension. By setting up other extensions in the phone configuration, you can get more features, like making and receiving calls for other extensions on specific lines.
To answer a call: activate the headset (if any), or pick up the handset, or press the Speaker button for hands-free operation.
To switch between two calls on lines 1 to 4: press one Line button to put that caller on hold and press the appropriate Line button to speak to the other. The active line is shown by a steady red light, the held one by a flashing light.
To hold the current call: press the Hold button.
To make calls: enter the number using the keypad then pick up the handset or activate the headset, or press the Speaker button to make a hands-free call. The number will be dialled in 4 seconds unless you press the # key or Send button first. (Send without entering a number redials the last called number.)
To make attended transfers: put the caller on hold by pressing another Line button. Dial the destination number as usual and speak to the recipient. Then press the Trnf button followed by the appropriate Line button for the first caller. Finally, hang up your connection.
To make conference (three-way) calls: with one party on hold and one active call, press the Conf button to join all three parties into a conference call.
To pick up voicemails: dial *1 (or press the Msg button) and enter the voicemail password when prompted (which you will find in the extension details in your VoIP control panel). (If there are waiting messages, the indicator to the right of the display flashes.)
