VoIP: How do I configure my Grandsteam Budgetone 101, Budgetone 102, Handytone, ATA-286 or ATA-486

  1. Plug your Grandstream into the LAN and obtain the phone's IP Address as follows:
    • Budgetone users: Press MENU then the DOWN arrow and MENU again. The phone's IP Address should appear on the phone's screen.
    • Handytone users: (Handytone must be plugged into the LAN and connected to an analogue phone) press the button on the Handytone, you should hear a menu prompt announcement on your analogue phone. Dial 02 and you should hear the IP Address
    • Other: You will see the IP address of the phone across the bottom of the LCD display.

    Make a note of this IP address.
  2. Open a Browser and enter type this address: http://IP_address ( using the IP address from step 1) you should see the login screen: [Grandstream Login screen]
    Type in the default password admin and press Login (if you have already changed the default password, use the new password).
    You should now be presented with the Configuration Screen.
  3. Set the Admin Password to a personal value. This is important if the phone is on a public IP range. [Admin password]
  4. Select IP Address: dynamically assigned via DHCP
    If you do not have a DHCP router available, select IP address: statically configured
    NOTE: only use the static settings if you do not have a DHCP router available.
    Otherwise, simply select DHCP option from the image above and ignore static settings.
  5. Set the SIP Server: to the registration server name you will have been advised to use in your welcome email. This will look like sip.freevirtualnumbers.co.uk or lon-pbx-X.freevirtualnumbers.co.uk
    You only need to set an outbound proxy if your phone/adapter is behind a firewall/router/hub that provides NAT.
    Set your Outbound Proxy: to nat.freevirtualnumbers.co.uk:5082
    • SIP User ID (Set this to your VoIP extension - usually 8 digits)
    • Authenticate ID (Set this to your VoIP extension - usually 8 digits)
    • Authenticate password (Set this to your VoIP extension password as specified in your confirmation email)
    • Name (Enter your name as you wish it to appear on phones)

  6. Set SIP User ID is phone number to Yes

  7. Set SIP Registration to YES
  8. Set SEND DTMF to via RTP (RFC2833)
  9. If you intend to use multiple Grandstream adaptors/telephones behind a Nat Firewall you will need to give each adaptor/Phone a unique SIP Port.

For example if you had two Grandstream adaptors/telephones the the first would be assigned port 5060 and the second 5061. </li>
<li>Click UPDATE at the bottom of the configuration page.</li>
<li>Click REBOOT. Make sure you click UPDATE before REBOOT to make sure your changes are implemented correctly.</li>
<li>Your Grandsteam Adaptor should now be ready to use! Dial 160 to try the echo test. You should hear everything you say echoed back to you.</li>
