VoIP: Setting up the trunk to use the SIP single line service

  1. Log onto the Trixbox Configuration and Administation screen
  2. Select FreePBX
  3. Select Setup.
  4. Select Tunks
  5. Select the add SIP Trunk.
  6. General Settings Section
    Outbound Caller ID:Enter your Outbound Caller ID (You must use a number that you have either purchased from Free Virtual Numbers or a number you have registered as a number that you own)
    Maximum Channels : Enter the number of outbound channels you wish to allocate.
  7. Outgoing dialing Rules Section
    Dial Rules : This is where you can set up a dailing rule for the trunk. You can set the system up so that you have to prefix the number with 9 to dail using this trunk or you can get more complicated and set the rule so that dialing certain numbers results in this trunk being used. Please see the Trixbox help for further information on the syntax.
    Dial rules wizards: You Can add Prefixes to numbers, remove prefixes and use a lookup to replace prefixes.
    Outbound Dial Prefix : If you Trixbox is behind another PBX and this requires you to dial a 9 to access an outside line this is where you configure this.
  8. Outgoing Settings Section
    Trunk Name: This is a descriptive name that you give to the Trunk.
    PEER Details: Enter the following lines in this box
    fromdomain=sip.freevirtualnumbers.co.uk
    host=sip.freevirtualnumbers.co.uk
    context=from-pstn
    canreinvite=no
    insecure=very
    type=peer
    authuser=(the extension number from your Single Line account)
    fromuser=(the extension number from your Single Line account)
    username=(the extension number from your Single Line account)
    secret=(the password associated with your extension number)
  9. Incoming Settings Section
    All entries should be blank.
  10. Registration Section
    Enter your extension:password @sip.freevirtualnumbers.co.uk / external_number
    for example: 2013690:wobble@sip.freevirtualnumbers.co.uk/01225800888
    Note that the extenal number must match your "Inbound Route" rules.
    and select Submit Changes.
  11. You will need to select the General settings Option from the main setup screen and set the Security Settings "Allow Anonymous Inbound SIP Calls?" to be YES and select Submit Changes.
  12. Finally select the red bar at the top of the screen to reload the Configuration files.
  13. You have now set up the SIP inbound and outbound connection to Free Virtual Numbers, you must now set up your "Inbound Routes" and your "Outbound Routes" rules.
